What causes visible aging?

The primary cause of lines, folds, and wrinkles is collagen loss. During childhood and young adulthood, your face is padded with a thick layer of collagen, which creates the rounded contouring often called a “baby face.” 

As time passes you naturally lose much of that collagen. On its own, your body won’t replace that tissue, and your skin is left to sag and pool into lines, folds, and wrinkles. 

This changes the contours of your face and can make issues like sun damage, roughly textured skin, and hyperpigmentation much more noticeable.  

How does ThermiSmooth work?

Dr. Cornforth uses the ThermiSmooth® treatment platform for skin tightening treatments. ThermiSmooth® delivers radiofrequency energy to create carefully controlled heat through a small handpiece that is manually maneuvered across the surface of your skin in small circular motions. This heat stimulates the production of collagen, which is deficient in skin that is aged, exhibited by fine lines and wrinkles.

How can ThermiSmooth benefit me?

ThermiSmooth® can stimulate collagen production in targeted areas of the face, which can result in a smoothing away of fine lines and wrinkles to create a more youthful appearance. 

What can I expect from a TheriSmooth session?

As with Botox® and Juvederm®, the process starts with going into the office for a consultation, where an assessment and mapping of the areas on the face will be conducted, evaluating the facial appearance of the areas to be augmented. Certain areas may be marked and photos may be taken of the areas to be treated.

The treatment platform relies on cooling technology to keep the surface of your skin at a comfortable temperature as controlled heat is being delivered to the targeted areas of the face. Patients report a warming sensation, and some liken their treatments to a warming massage experience. 

Treatments take just 20 minutes, and most people benefit from a series of 3-5 sessions to achieve optimal results.
